Character Bio
Ophion Luteus (born O'fhanlu Tia) is a Player Character OC from Final Fantasy XIV. He specializes in the forbidden arts of the Black Mages, with greatest interest in the most potent and flashy fire spells.
History
He was born and raised in a fairly traditional Miqo'te Seeker of the Sun tribe, made up of mostly female warriors, hunters and gatherers, one breeding male (the Nunh) who won the right by combat, and a few non breeding males (Tias). He learned a bit of archery as a boy but could never be bothered to make much effort at it. He had even less interest in the idea of striving to be Nunh himself one day, despite (or perhaps because of) his mother's constant prattling about how her boy would be such a great Nunh one day (and his sisters' resulting snickers).
One day, when a party of adventurers passed nearby his village, young O'fhanlu snuck off and followed them until they came across some fearsome beast. He watched the ensuing combat, enthralled most of all by the magic spells of the thaumaturge. Then and there, his mind was made up. He soon left his village and set off for the big, bad city of Ul'dah to seek an apprenticeship at the Thaumaturge's Guild there.
Thinking his traditional tribal name made him sound like too much of a country bumpkin, he decided to take the name Ophion Luteus. And such he has insisted he be called ever since.
Personality
Ophion thinks of himself as cool, aloof, and crafty. A lofty and cool-headed academic of the Dark Arts... He is none of those things. He is actually a huge nerd, always hoping for an excuse to make some things explode. He is quite intelligent--one has to be to become a powerful mage, after all--but he tends to make hasty decisions without bothering to think things through and often forgets to apply common sense.
He is generally kind-hearted and willing to help those in need, but will get sulky when he feels slighted and can be tremendously stubborn when anyone tries to tell him he's wrong about something. Make a friend of him, however, and he'll stick by you through thick and thin, even if it does mean getting some grime on those flashy new robes he just got.
